
Maths Wizards
Delhi Public School, Ambala is proud of its maths wizards who brought laurels to the school by their remarkable achievement of placing in the top positions in the state as well as the North Zone in the Jigzaw Wizard (2010). Devansh Garg (class IV) placed V in the state and IX in the North Zone . Saatvik Bansal (Class V) bagged the VIII position in the State and XIII in the North Zone. Congratulations to all the winners.
Career Counselling
In the present day scenario, it is of utmost importance that the students of the senior classes be informed of the various career options that are available to them. The management and the faculty of Delhi Public School, Ambala realised this very crucial requisite and hence organised a ‘Career Counselling’ session for the students of Class X. Experts in the field were invited and they enlightened the students on the techniques of how to choose a career. They asked leading questions and shared their personal experiences, thus, facilitating each individual student’s career choices. Information was also provided of the various exams that the students will undertake in the coming years.
TEACHER'S DAY
Teacher's day is celebrated to mark the birth of Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishan, who was the second President of India. This wonderful occasion was celebrated with great pomp & show in Delhi Public School, Ambala. The teachers were welcomed by the students on the ‘dhol’ beats. The teachers joined in enthusiastically.
The celebration began with a heart warming poem by Jagpreet Singh of class 5th, this was followed by a skit - performed by the boys of class 10th. The junior girls danced on a medley of songs & gave roses to the teachers showcasing the importance of teachers in life. The girls of senior department burnt the dance floor with their moves. The teachers were also given awards by the students. A movie, made by senior students of DPS was also presented along with a presentation. During the presentation, the background score was given by the class10th students. The day culminated with a friendly ‘Tug of war’ between the teachers and the students. The day ended with an eternal prayer by the students of DPS Ambala that the bond they share with their teachers should strengthen with each passing day.
EDUCATION TOUR TO KURUKSHETRA AND SCIENCE CITY, KAPURTHALA
Students of DPS Ambala were taken on an education trip to Kurukshetra and Science City, Kapurthala on 3rd sept,2011. This tour was organised for classes I to VI. Classess I and II went to Kurukshetra and visited Birla Mandir ,Kalpana Chawla planetarium , Krishna Museum and Panorama. They had a very good time. Classess III to VI were taken to science city ,Kapurthala were they were shown a movie in Dome theatre and kids learned the different concepts related to Galaxies. It was indeed a very good trip for students as they learned a lot from visiting these places
DPS AMBALA CELEBRATES JANMASHTAMI WITH A FERVOUR
On 18 August 2011 DPS, Ambala celebrated Janmashtami with a lot of fanfare. Various scenes from the life of Lord Krishna were enacted by the students and the message of good prevailing over evil was dissimilated. A group also performed a classical bandish titled ‘Beg Darasdo Krishna Murari’. On the whole, it was a perfect day for all the students to take pride and rejoice in the diverse cultured state called ‘India’.
DPS AMBALA CELEBRATES INDEPENDENCE DAY WITH A FERVOUR
On 15 August 2011 DPS, Ambala celebrated Independence Day with fervour. The occasion commenced with the flag hoisting by the Principal Ms. Bushra Ahuja which was followed by the National Anthem. Following this a poem was recited by the kinder garden students , titled ‘Mera Desh’. On the occasion of Independence Day painting competition was conducted for the middle school and kite decoration and kite flying competition for the senior classes. Sweets were distributed to all the students of the school.
On the occasion in her speech , the principal did not talk about the history of independence rather the focus in her speech was the corrupt and related problems, Mother India is facing today and asked the children – the future children of India to stand Up against the evils to safeguard the freedom the we won after many sacrifices of freedom fighters and the unsung heroes
STUNNING PERFORMANCE AT ZONALS BY DPSITES
The venue for The District Ambala Zone I games 2011 was Police Line Ground, Ambala from 26 to 28 July. The venue bore witness to the stunning performance by the students of Delhi Public School, Ambala in various fields.
The Under-14 Boys Football team of DPS, Ambala won the Zone-I by beating Government Senior Secondary School, Mohra (1-0) and S.A.Jain Senior Secondary School (1-0). DPS, Ambala continued its winning streak in Table tennis and Badminbton in the Under 14 Boys category as well.
8 members of Delhi Public School, Ambala Under 14 Boys Football team have been selected along with 3 members of the Under 14 Table Tennis Team and 2 members of their Badminton team. Apart from this DPS, Ambala has contributed to the district teams in Cricket, Basket Ball and athletics for the Inter- Zonal District Games held at War Hero Stadium, Ambala from 3 to 5 August, organized by the District Education Board Ambala.
INTER DPS DEBATE COMPETITION
At Delhi Public School we believe in providing a platform for each child to showcase their ability. Delhi Public School, Ambala played host to an Inter DPS Debate Competition which was held on May 14, 2011 . Teams from 9 DPS schools of the North Zone II participated in this competition. Each team consisted of 3 members who expressed their views on the topic ‘Video games are entertaining but negatively impact young minds’. The programme commenced with the lighting of the lamp, which was followed by a welcome song by the school choir. Judges for the competition were Dr. Neelam Luthra, Head of Department, DAV College of Education, Ms. Deepika Gupta, Lecturer, DAV College of Education and Ms Shivani, Lecturer, Tulsi College of Education. The debate competition itself was a keenly contested affair where all the participants put forth their ideas with great ingenuity and flair. At the time when the results were being compiled the audience was enthralled by an instrumental ‘jugal bandi’ by two students of DPS Ambala. The winner’s trophy was lifted DPS, Karnal and the runners up trophy was lifted by DPS, Panipat (Refinery). Individual prizes were also given to the 3 Best Speakers and 1 Best Interjector. It was a perfect opportunity for the students to express their opinions and voice issues that were their concerns.
PRODIGIES OF DPS AMBALA
‘Brilliant young minds are the investment of our future’. The student strength of DPS Ambala comprises of such young and brilliant minds. Ridhika Madan ( Class III ), Devansh Garg ( Class IV ) and Jagpreet Singh
(Class V) just to name a few.
Ridhika Madan (Class III) of DPS Ambala brought laurels to the school when she secured the I position in Ambala City and V position in Haryana State in English Olympiad conducted by ‘Science Olympiad Foundation (SOF)’.She has secured an international ranking of 53 in the same. Ridhika Madan ; a cheerful child; secured the 21 rank in the Harayan state and 33 rank in the Northern Region in the ‘Jig Saw’ Maths competition. She has qualified for the final round of the competition, to be held at a later date.
Devansh Garg (Class IV) of DPS Ambala, did the school proud when he competed in ‘All India Maths Science (AIMS )Talent Exam’ held on 21 Jan. 2011 and secured IV position in all of India. He has been awarded a consolation prize for all his efforts. Devansh Garg also secured V position in Harayana state and IX position in North Zone in the ‘Jig Saw exam (Maths)’. He has qualified for the final round of the same. He continued his winning steak when he secured the III position in Ambala City in English Olympiad conducted by ‘Science Olympiad Foundation (SOF)’.
Jagpreet Singh (Class V) of DPS Ambala, is a gifted child like no other. His keen sense of observation and his ever inquisitive nature has converted him into a walking talking encyclopedia. He ; at such a tender age ; is able to explain Pascal’s law, tell the capitals of almost all the countries, name the natural satellite of Pluto etc. This boy wonder is bound to bring glory to DPS Ambala with his accomplishments in various fields.
These bright students have done DPS Ambala proud. The school acknowledges their efforts and hard work and wishes them the very best for all their future endeavors.
MOTHERS DAY CELEBRATION AT DPS AMBALA
“As God couldn’t be everywhere, so he created mothers.” This is the most common belief as ‘Mothers’ are considered to be epitome of love, compassion, warmth and comfort.
In an endeavour to honour ‘Mothers’; DPS Ambala, celebrated ‘Mothers Day’ on 6 May 2011. The event commenced with a speech by Ms. Bushra Ahuja; Principal DPS Ambala; to recognize all the efforts made by the mothers of DPS Ambala. Mothers of the Primary Wing had graced the occasion. The students used the opportunity to present their thoughts and feeling towards their mother through a play. They expressed their emotions through a medley of songs specially selected for the occasion. The students of DPS Ambala, were provided with a perfect platform to show their appreciation of their mothers , who have nurtured and encouraged them to achieve greater heights.
The programme culminated with an interaction with the mothers and with everyone expressing gratitude for their contribution.
SPECIAL DRIVE FOR THE EDUCATION OF THE GIRL CHILD
Women are an important component of the society and have been excelling in every field from education to space. In order to commemorate the strength and power of women
International Women’s Day is celebrated every year on 8th March. On this occasion DPS , AMBALA has decided not just to name the occasion but also work for the cause and therefore has taken up the initiative of working for a step further. The school has announced 50% off in the admission fee of the first 50 girls who get themselves admitted between the period 8th March to 21th march thereby becoming the first school of its kind working for a social cause. The school is trying to match up the efforts of the Haryana Government who are indeed taking up great efforts in order to empower women. DPS believes that it is not the duty of the government alone to look into the upliftment of the women, every citizen is equally responsible for it. Every girl has the Right to have her due which she can get only through world class education.
We in DPS would like to see the girls of India in general and Harayana in particular at a level which has already been achieved by Pratibha Patil, Indira Gandhi, Kalpana Chawla, selja, Geeta Bakhal, Sushma Swaraj, Kiran Choudhary, Lata Mangeshkar,
Sania Mirza …….and Who knows one of our own girls achieves this height and this of course our endeavour………. (Media Coverage ).
TOY TRAIN AT DPS AMBALA(9TH FEB,2011)
A Toy train was flagged off on Wednesday 9th Feb 2011 in DPS, Ambala by Mr. PK Sanghi, DRM Ambala.
Mr. Sudhir Garg, ADRM Ambala and MR RK Tayal, Sr. DME Ambala were the other distinguished guests of the day.
Students from various play schools in Ambala were invited for the day and the tiny tots of Blossoms kindergarten along with the DIPSITES enjoyed the ride the most. (Media Coverage )
TRAINING FOR THE TEACHERS (8TH DEC,2010)
Teachers play a vital role in the overall development of the students. Not only are they responsible for imparting academic knowledge, but are also responsible for inculcating the right values and principles to their students. The importance of teachers is especially enormous during the formative years of children when they first join school. Therefore it is very important to have professionally qualified teachers to ensure the right development of students.
Since the needs of the primary students are different from the secondary students, the primary teachers and secondary teachers are required to take up different teacher's training courses. Following this traditions of training ,6 teachers of our school - the mother teachers of class I and II and 2 teachers of hindi had attended a one day training workshop on 8th Dec,2010.
SPORTS WEEK(29TH NOV TO 8TH DEC,2010)
"Introducing children to sports is very important. Sports is essential not only for the physical fitness and growth of a child, but also for his mental growth. The importance of sports in education can be gauged by the way it helps in inculcating values such as dedication, discipline and responsibility in children, at the same time teaching them many relevant life lessons ."To familarize the students with the importance of sports, The School has organized Intra/Inter Class Sports meet from 29th November 2010 till 8th December 2010. The events will be organized class-wise as per the schedule(for more details go to the circular corner). Special attraction are the special games organised for the parents so as to involve them with sports activity and to strong the parents teachers relationships. The closing ceremony of the sports and the prize distribution will be held in the month of Jan,2011
SCHOLASTIC BOOK FAIR(25TH NOV TO 27TH NOV,2010)
"A good book on your shelf is a friend that turns its back on you and remains a friend.
"
In order to inculcate the reading habbits amoung the students, a book fair was organised by scholastic book club in Delhi Public School where in students browsed through the differnt types of books and purchased the ones that they liked the most.
CHILDREN’S DAY CELEBRATION (12TH NOV,2010)
Children’s day was celebrated with great fervor & zeal in DPS Ambala on 12th Nov 2010 in order to commemorate Chacha Nehru’s birthday.
To begin with the day, the school teachers presented a special assembly whereby the teachers presented the news , thought, and recited a special poem “Why God made Children” & took the special DPS teacher’s pledge and assured to work wholeheartedly for the cause of the school in particular and society in general.
This was followed by an Archery demonstration by Mr Jyotikant Junior India Gold medalist specially organized for school students. To conclude the day’s celebration a contributory community lunch was organized whereby the students took healthy and nutritious lunch and great fun playing games like Dumb charades, passing the parcel , musical chair, O! guess riddle …… class wise . The Principal Ms Bushra Ahuja wished the students and stated in her highly motivating speech that the above mentioned events were organized in order to inculcated a spirit of “share and care” among each other.
INTER DPS INTERNATIONAL DANCE COMPETITION(23RD OCT,2010)
Inter DPS International Dance Competition was organized by the DPS Society and hosted by DPS Ambala (on 23rd Oct,2010 ), with the major objective of providing an insight to the concept of “International Integration” for the DIPSites, which rightly complemented the conclusion of the Commonwealth Games .
Seven DPS Schools namely DPS Bhadurgarh (Chinese Ribbon
Dance), DPS Ambala (Spanish folk Dance), DPS Karnal(French Folk dance), DPS Panipat Refinery(Japanese Folk Dance), DPS Panipat City(Chinese Fusion), DPS Hisar (England HipHop) and DPS Rewari(Chinese to yao) participated in the competition and presented International folk dances and showcased a wide variety of International cultural heritage.
DPS Panipat Refinery which presented traditional folk dance of Japan bagged the First Prize while the Host school represented Spain and secured the runners up Trophy.Both the teams will be participating in the final to be held on 15th December, 2010 at DPS Dwarka, New Delhi (Media Coverage ) .
