2.NSO- SOF is organizing its 14th National Science Olympiad on17th Nov 2011 for the students of classes I to X. This will be a MCQ test where in 50 Questions will have to be answered in  60minutes. There are 2 sections :

• Section I :  Mental Ability
• Section II : Science

                    Syllabus as per class syllabus.
  3.   IMO - SOF is organizing its 5th International Mathematics Olympiad on 8th Dec 2011 for the students of classes I to X . 50 Questions have to be answered in 60 minutes. Paper will have 3 sections:
                * Section I :   Logical Reasoning
                * Section II:   Mathematical Reasoning.
                * Section III:  Daily Maths
For both NSO & IMO, sample question papers are available on their website  www.sofworld.org. A booklet for each exam containing model question papers will be available at a price of Rs 50/-. Fees per Exam:   Rs. 100/-
    Interested student have to deposit Rs 100/- (Rs 150/- if booklet required)

 Dear  Parents,
School is organising an Educational  tour to Kurukshetra on Saturday, Sep 3, 2011 The students (Classes I&II) will visit Birla Mandir ,Kalpana Chawla planetarium , Krishna Museum and Panorama. School timings for the students on this day will be 8 am to 3.30 pm. Parents will have to  drop and pick up their wards from the school .The cost of the trip is Rs. 150 per child  which includes transportation, all the entry tickets ,movie show at planetarium and a light refreshment .  Students are required to come in school uniform and bring party Tiffin and water bottle with them. • The school proposes to send the students on a tour during summer vacations for classess VI to X.      

             Four destinations considered are as given below :

• Dalhousie / Noorpur / Khajjiar. - 4 nights – 3days. Cost of tour is Rs. 3500/- per student.
• Kullu Manali / Rohtang Pass / Manikaran 4 nights – 3days. Cost of tour is Rs. 3500/- per student
• Mussoorie / Dehradun / Ponta Sahib 2 nights – 3days. Cost of tour is Rs. 3200/- per student.
• Nainital / Jim Corbet/ Haridwar 4 nights – 3days. Cost of tour is Rs. 4000/- per student.

• Cost of the tour includes to & fro in Tourist coach Non-AC buses; stay at Deluxe Hotel (4 per room sharing); all the meals and sight seeing.
• Tentative date is 25th May 2011.
• The students will be accompanied by 3 teachers and the teachers will take all the care & responsibility. However school will not be responsible for any un- toward incident during travelling.
• All the children will be covered under group Insurance.
• Interested parents are requested to fill in 2 options of their choice from the given four options in the consent letter attached below. However, final decision of destination will be taken by the school authority.

Dear Parents,

1)  Saturdays will remain off for students from April to October.
2)  However PTM will be held on Saturdays Timings will be 9:30 am to 10:30 am (w.e.f May 2011) according to the following Schedule:-
    a) 1st Saturday: Classes Pre-Nursery to II
    b) 3rd Saturday: Classes III to VI
    c) 4th Saturday: Classes VII to X
    In case your ward has a sibling studying in another class, you can choose to attend a PTM on any Saturday of your choice (Other than 2nd Saturday) with prior information to the concerned teachers.
 3) Those students who wish to practice for sports activities –as circulated from time to time-can do so on Saturday (except 2nd Saturday). No School bus will ply on Saturday. Interested parents will have to drop & pick up their wards on their own. The timings for the same will be 8.30 am
4) The timings for the extra class for students – as per the teacher’s instructions -will be 10.30 Am to 11.30 Am. Therefore, parents will have to drop & pick up their wards on their own.

• It gives me immense pleasure to inform you that our school is now affiliated to PRACHEEN KALA KENDRA, CHANDIGARH (A Deemed university of Music and Dance). Students (of classes 3rd onwards) will be provided coaching for this course (free of cost) on Saturdays in school. School buses will not ply on roads on Saturdays. Therefore, interested parents will have to drop & pick up their wards on their own. Those, interested may kindly submit their consent letter to the resp. class teacher latest by 20th April 2011.
• Parents are requested not to send Birthday Gifts for more than Rs. 10/- for distribution on their ward’s birthday.
• No student is permitted to bring pencil box (or pouch) costing more than Rs.  50/- to school.
• Gel pens brought to school should not cost more than Rs  25/- (Rs 35/- for classes IX & X) and a child should not bring more than 2 blue gel pens to school.
• All the students of classes VI to X should also carry pencil, scale & eraser, sharpener in their pencil boxes.
• Students are not permitted to bring more than Rs.  20/- to school for canteen in a day.
• Assessment Tests (for classes I to V) will be conducted on specified dates only. No retest will be taken on any ground. Parents are requested not to ring up the teachers in this matter.
• Parents are requested to check that their ward carries the books & notebooks as per the time table only& no child should carry any extra book/notebook, unnecessarily making the school bag heavy.
